Second Harvest Food Bank receives the support of the greater San Jose community in furthering their mission to end hunger in their neighborhoods. Local group Pinnacle One Insurance spearheads a campaign to raise food, funds and bring awareness to this vital organization.
SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) OCTOBER 08, 2015
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is currently receiving much-needed support from the surrounding community through the efforts of Pinnacle One Insurance. The initiative aims to help enable the group to continue their mission of ending hunger in local neighborhoods.
Second Harvest Food Bank began in 1974, and over the years has become one of the largest food banks in the nation. Providing food to almost a quarter of a million people each month, their focus is on fresh produce. In fact, more than half of the food they distribute consists of fresh fruits and vegetables – more than any other food bank in the United States. Second Harvest also strives to educate local families on proper nutrition and making healthy food choices, as well as playing a leading role in promoting federal nutrition programs. Resources of food, funds and volunteers are an ongoing necessity for this organization which does so much for so many.
“We believe strongly in operating as agents of change in our community,” said Robert Varich, owner and president of Pinnacle One Insurance. “Anything we can do to help Second Harvest Food Bank continue their vital work is a true privilege for our team. After all, neighbors helping neighbors is what we’re all about here. We hope the whole community will rally around this most worthy cause.”
Pinnacle One’s current campaign takes a three-pronged approach. First, monetary donations to Second Harvest may be made through this link: https://www.crowdrise.com/fightinghungerfeedin/fundraiser/pinnacleinsuranceage. Second, food donations may be made at each of Pinnacle One’s convenient locations: https://www.pin1ins.com/location. And third, donations of $10 will be made by the agency to Second Harvest for each referral received for an insurance quotation, no purchase necessary.
To spread the word about the campaign, Pinnacle One employs its social media channels, email and text message communications, and dedicates a full page of their monthly magazine to feature this cause. The electronic version of Our Hometown magazine may be viewed here: https://www.pin1ins.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_39.
Pinnacle One will continue to support local worthwhile causes, and encourages members of the community to submit a request for their group to be considered for future campaigns through this link: https://www.pin1ins.com/Submit-A-Community-Cause-Idea_53. Entries are diligently reviewed and the selected causes contacted by a representative of Pinnacle One’s Community Program.
